Academic Profile 

Ph.D. Graduated from the Institute of Sociology at the University of Warsaw (1980). He received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, at the Polish Academy of Sciences (1986). In 2009 he got degree of dr habilitowany at Institute of Political Studies, Polish Academy of Science. For most of the eighties he was employed as a researcher (social aspects of economic reforms and restructuring) at the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1993-2002 he was CEO of the Polish Agency for Regional Development (PARR). From 2005 he has been an associate professor at the Centre for European Regional and Local Studies (EUROREG), University of Warsaw, involved in advisory projects to the Ministry for Regional Development, expert within ESPON, and in a number of research and evaluation projects supported by the CEC. From 1999 he is a member of the Committee for Space Economy and Regional Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences and member of the board of re-established in 2007 the State Council for Spatial Economy. Author of over 130 publications on cohesion policy, evaluation and tourism in development.
