ON CREATIVE CLASS

The new book by Katarzyna Wojnar "Polska klasa kreatywna" (Polish Creative Class) has just been published. It is the first attempt to scientifically investigate and empirically measure the phenomenon within Polish cities.

In recent years, the notion of "creative class" gained prominence in academic and media discourse on urban development. Since 2002, when Richard Florida published his seminal work, many scholars have referred to this term, either with acceptance or critique about its usefulness in describing the real-world mechanisms. Katarzyna Wojnar investigates the role of creativity in the economic development, re-thinks the notion of "creative class" itself, comments on the academic discourse around this term. She also presents results of her empirical research on the creative capacity of Polish cities and Polish creative class representatives.

The monograph was published by National Centre for Culture. You can buy Polish version directly from the NCC library.
