ESPON SEMINAR IN PAPHOS

The Seminar “Territorial Development Opportunities in Europe and its Neighbourhood Fostering Global Competitiveness” was organised by ESPON Coordination Unit in cooperation with the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. On behalf of EUROREG this seminar was attended by TERCO project team members (Prof. Marek Kozak, Prof. Katarzyna Zawalińska, Dorota Celińska-Janowicz and Adam Płoszaj, Ph.D.) and representatives of ESPON Polish Contact Point (Monika Wolska and Paweł Śliwowski).
The Seminar focused on new territorial development opportunities to foster global competitiveness, as well as challenges seen from this wider territorial perspective. The purpose of the ESPON Internal Seminar was two-fold:
- To discuss and better understand the territorial development of structures, trends and perspectives in the European Neighbourhood countries and cities by using ESPON evidence and tools that can inform development and cooperation in an enlarged Europe.
- To allow policy makers and practitioners to discuss possible themes for further cooperation between Europe and its Neighbourhood to approach new options for territorial development and to enhance Europe’s competitiveness in the global context.
Professor Katarzyna Zawalińska shared TERCO project findings as a discussant at the workshop "Territorial Cooperation at different scales."
