EUROREG AT ERSA AND EUGEO

This summer Italy hosted two large international conferences about spatial research. At both events EUROREG was represented by Dorota Celińska-Janowicz.

The first conference – 53rd ERSA Congress (European Regional Science Association) – was held in Palermo, Sicily, August 27th-31st. During 26 general sessions and 45 special sessions more than  900  participants presented almost 850 papers about regional development studies. Dorota Celińska-Janowicz took part in the session "Retail Development and Sustainable Local Economic Growth" where she presented the paper "Shopping streets transformation in post-socialist city: the Warsaw example".

One week later (5-7 September) the fourth EUGEO Congress (Association of European Geographical Societies) took place in Rome. The general theme of the conference was „Europe, what’s next? Changing geographies and geographies of change” so change was the main focus of this event.  More than 450 presentations was given within 4 general and  38 thematic session. In one of these session – "Comparative urban geography of post-socialist cities” – Dorota Celińska-Janowicz presented the paper about large-scale estates in Poland and east Germany ("Large housing estate in post-socialist city, revival or decay").
